Name: An'zell
Rank: Wingrider / Dolphineer (JM1)
Dragon: White Speranth
Description:
He strikes a very distinctive figure as he wanders around the Weyr and anywhere else he goes because of his shock of red hair. Red is never a good description of a true carrot-top, as they usually have more orange hair. And so it is with Anezell. He has the freckles to go with it. The entire effect gives him the appearance of an over-grown leprechaun. Most of the time it’s easy to coax a laugh out of him and he has almost permanent laugh lines etched into his face.
Personality:
Appearing shy and unimposing he is quiet until people get to know him. Suddenly his good humor bursts forth and they discover he is always full of laughter. He is a prankster (though few can prove it), and has made quite a few of his fellow dragonriders and Crafters annoyed with his devious if non-lethal and certainly not harmful jokes. Most people cannot help but laugh with him because his charming laugh tends to be infectious.
Being so far away and out of the loop for Weyr politics for so long, An'zell has no idea there is even a rebellion stirring at Crystal Waters. Whose side he would be on remains to be seen.
History:
An'zell was found by his foster parents washed up on the shore, having been rescued from the ocean by a pod of dolphins. Although he will tell you he was born in Torent Hold, it is not completely the truth. His foster family found him when one of the dolphins brought him to them. They raised him, claiming him to be the fifth of their six children; however it was relatively obvious as he grew that something was amiss. As the rest of his family has black hair. Never even having thought about becoming a dragonrider, he devoted his energy to being a Dolphineer. While he was still living at the Hold, some of the dolphins would come and 'check up' on him. When he was Searched he was well on his way to becoming one, although he was still several Turns away from walking the Tables. Now that he can balance his Weyrling training a little easier, he is starting his training back up.
While he continued his studies to become a Dolphineer, his first priority was to taking care of the wondrous gift that he has been granted in the form of his Speranth. He workedhard as a Weyrling to continue to prove himself worthy of being a dragonrider, but did not forgotten his friends the dolphins. Now that the white dragon can fly, the two of them go and visit the pod that found him frequently and play with them.
Fortunately, there is a Dolphineer Journeyman near the Weyr so he continued his training until he was ready to walk the tables, and during his Senior Weyrlinghood walked the tables to Journeyman. By recommendation of the Journeyman Dolphineer he has been studying under, An'zell transferred to the Beastcraft Hall to further his studies there, as he is nearing the time when he will walk the tables to Journeyman himself.
While at the Craft Hall he heard rumors of the mounting rebellion through Speranth (the dragon likes to keep in touch with his clutchmates). So both to stay away from the pending violence and to further work on his Journeyman studies, An'zell has decided to go to the Erdan archipelago where there are active and friendly dolphin pods. However, Crystal Waters will always be 'home' to him, and eventually he hopes to return. For now he contends himself with visiting.
Age: Two Turns
Origin: Crystal Waters Weyr
Description:
Smaller by far than his clutch mates when he was Hatched, he was no bigger than a canine. At first glance Speranth's hide is snow white. However, if you long enough you can see other colors in there as well... that are slowly shifting as though they were a field of corn rippling against a breeze.
His wings are broad and his tail and neck long, and all around he is proportioned just as perfectly as any other dragon, but in miniature. Smaller by far than his clutchmates he will never grow to be anything even as big as a green. When he was younger he was unaware of his size, and simply happy to be alive and well fed and well groomed by his ever grateful Mine. Approaching fully grown, Speranth is roughly seventeen meters in length.
It is not even as big as the smallest green, but its big enough for An’zell and big enough for Speranth to be in the Golden Hawk Wing when they were officially assigned one at Crystal Waters. Although they are in the Erdan chain technically they are part of the Beastcraft so he isn't in a Wing, but he would be in the Swift Sunrise if he was in a Wing. He can chew firestone just fine.
His name means "Hope."
Personality:
Tentative and shy, his personality is a mirror image of his rider's. He wonders about the world and is full of curiosity and questions. While he shares An'zell's love for jokes and humor he tends to be slightly more serious than his rider. He therefore tempers his rider's impish nature quite well.
The Turns of being alive and bonded to An'zell have helped eased his tension, and he finds it easier to interact with other dragons now. It amuses him to no end that fire-lizards enjoy following him around and indeed flock to him for some unprecedented reason he cannot fathom.
Among the many things he has learned in his unending search for knowledge and answers, Speranth learned to swim. Speranth has grown to love the water, and is an apt swimmer. As he is much less imposing than other dragons, he tends to see some wildlife that the larger dragons might not and enjoys the company of shipfish with equal pleasure as fire-lizards.
