Shimari's Disaster - 30 turns ago
Two Weyrs, two girls, one queen
High Reaches' queen had died, leaving no heir. Kahrain's Senior Queen was old, and had just laid a queen. A deal was made - whoever's candidate Impressed the queen could have her. Kahrain had a powerful HAD. High Reaches searched high and low - and they found Shimari. She was weak compared to Kahrain's HAD, and they sought to change that using genetic engineering - on a teenager.
It worked, and all too well. Shimari's Disaster started the second Shimari stepped onto the Sands and decided to hate them all. Stones, called from the depths of space, would forever alter the creatures standing there. Their children would have mutants. And as the golden queen hatched, Shimari struck the queen with a mutating stone, casting the queen and her Chosen into decades of despair as their hatchling hatched out the wrong colors - and were killed because of it. For nearly thirty turns less than half of golden Aleranth's clutches survived.
And then two mutated eggs were stolen by High Reaches. And out hatched the Emerald Queen and the Aquamarine who would Fly her.
Distant Future - Now
Two Weyrs, two queens - one Star
Both the Emerald and Aleranth hatched out healthy clutches – and both with new mutant colors. But days before Aleranth's clutch hatched, two of the smaller eggs were stolen – and all signs point to High Reaches. Kahrain blames High Reaches for stealing their eggs, though the stolen dragonets aren't found, and starts the first and hopefully only dragonwar. But a new star has appeared in the sky, and Shimari and her wherhandlers insist it holds Thread – no one believes them. Not until in the middle of a battle that Weyrwoman Trisini had planned to be the last by pitting all of her forces against the smaller High Reaches.
And at the height of the raid, the Weyrwoman was struck down. Aleranth would have gone between – but she had a clutch on the Sands, while the two Weyrs turn their attention toward Thread. Except there are still those scheming, and Thread has a few new aspects than it had before... With the arrival of Thread an uneasy truce has fallen upon the weyrs. The survival of Pern balances on a precarious edge.

What makes us different?
One of the things that makes Distant Future is our willingness to try new things. Many of our sub-plots are player suggested and player driven; if you have an idea, we'll try to help you accomplish it.
We have the navarn, which are basically carnivorous Pegasuses (Pegasi) that are telepathically bonded to their herd (which is called a Pack) and that can impress to humans.
We have pirates.
What we are accepting
We're pretty much accepting a wide variety of characters. This includes (but is not limited to) dragonriders, weyrlings, and candidates, other weyrfolk, normal holdfolk, crafters and pirates. Also accepting a limited number of navarn riders and wherhandlers, as well as candidates for navarn/watch-whers.
We have several high ranks open. Some of the ones we would greatly appreciate being filled are:
-Sr. Weyrwoman at Kahrain
-Weyrleader at Kahrain
-Weyrleader at High Reaches
-Jr. Weyrwoman at High Reaches[/center]
