Zvezda was one of the few, the proud, the candidates. She had settled in and made her bed area neat, and now she was sitting on the bed working on the embroidery she had brought with her. A break between chores was always nice, and she tended to spend them quietly. The hustle and bustle of the weyr seemed to sap all of her energy, making it hard for her to keep up. She was slowly acclimating though, but she couldn't complain too much about the work. It wasn't anything worse than she was used to dealing with at home. It was more like all of the people that kept her on her toes constantly.
Zvezda felt a light prick to her finger, and she paused to examine it with a critical eye. She hadn't made herself bleed in a long time, and she was thankful she wasn't going to start again right then. Just a gentle touch, but sharp enough to know she should have been paying more attention. She had a mind to maybe spruce up her clothing stipend that she'd received upon arrival, but she didn't want to be a show off either. So far she hadn't gotten to know the rest of the candidates very well, and she had a mind to offer her services to some of them before she went embellishing her own clothing.
She was sure that it would it be a nice segue into friendship maybe, but she was also afraid that they'd just want her to do them favors all of the time too. Perhaps she'd offer it free as one time thing, and then maybe earn some marks for the rest, nothing major maybe like a sixteenth. That was pretty cheap after all, and it wasn't like she was a journeyman anyway.
